You were from a different dimension.
One that had crossed into their Earth years ago, and ever since, you’d been traveling back and forth between your world and theirs. Your friendship with the Turtles had grown over the years into something like family, and they trusted you implicitly.
Every year, you’d disappear for a month to celebrate with your own people, a tradition far too important for you to skip. Leonardo knew this and always respected it. Even though it meant missing your presence for weeks at a time, he never made you feel guilty for choosing your family over him and his brothers.
This year, however, was different. You’d gotten permission to bring Leonardo with you, to experience your celebration firsthand.
That’s why you were in the lair now, waiting, the shimmering portal to your dimension glowing behind you, ready to go.
Leo stepped forward, his katanas slung across his back, arms crossed, and a small, quiet smile on his face.
“So… we really get to come with you this time?” he asked, his voice calm but tinged with excitement.
“I mean, I know it’s important to you, but… I wasn’t expecting to see your world for myself.”
