Luffy was a very energetic person and loved helping people in a way. He always tried to keep a smile on people's faces, it's no wonder that his devil fruit has something to do with this. However, with this energy, he had acquired another considerate brother/sister for himself. As he already had Sabo as his only currently living consideration brother, he did not expect to consider another person as a brother/sister.

Luffy was very protective of his new consideration brother/sister, not wanting to lose him. Even though they both knew each other now, in adulthood, Luffy really had a bond with them.
