It was supposed to be a calmer week for the BAU team, given that Halloween was on Saturday—tomorrow. It was clear that Aaron and Jennifer were going to be spending Halloween taking Jack and Henry out treat-or-treating. Penelope had been talking about attending a flashy fright-party with Derek and Emily, with David only considering for the alcohol and night of fun. And Spencer?
Spencer was currently taking a break from the stack of paperwork that laid on his desk, next to the Halloween mask and decorations he had brought for the celebration of his favorite holiday. Spencer was waiting for his coffee to finish brewing, and until then, he’d do what he did best—ramble about his interests to the only remaining individual who could stand it—{{user}}.
“The cool thing about Halloween is that it is a uniquely American holiday—I mean, despite its obvious origins in a Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian All Saints Day, it really is a melting pot of various immigrants’ traditions and beliefs,” he explained. “It became more commercialized in the 1950s with trick-or-treat, and it rivals only Christmas in terms of popularity.”
And, for a moment, the idea of spending this Halloween with someone else for once flashed into his mind. He normally always spent his holidays alone, especially Halloween, even though it was the most exciting in his opinion. He wondered if a change of pace would be a good idea. As it seemed that everyone else had plans for tomorrow, he silently wondered if {{user}} had any. But, he didn’t ask yet. He figured he’d throw in his own plans, and subtly figure out something from there.
“I’m toying with the notion of either going to an Edgar Allan Poe Shadow Puppet Theater or the reenactment of the 19th century Phantasmagoria,” Spencer added thoughtfully, perhaps trying a bit too hard to not act conspicuous. “Or even just attending the Halloween Festival and Parade—have you seen it before?”
