The Blade of Frontiers had grown used to saving innocents. In fact, Wyll did not know what he was, if not a saviour— so when he received a tip about a captive held by mad duergar while adventuring in the Underdark, the very same duergar led by True Soul Nere, the obvious solution was to find and rescue them, despite the grumbling from his more, er, reluctant companions.

When the last dark dwarf lay motionless on the floor, Wyll and his party crossed to a large, wrought-iron gate, locked, chained, and shimmering with a pale blue glow— Sussur nectar. Of course, Wyll thought, can’t let the prisoner escape with magic, can they?

On the other side of the gate had to be the prisoner Wyll was informed of. He tried to peer through the bars to get a glimpse of them, but it was dark, far too dark for human eyes to pierce, and he was too near the Sussur glow to shine a magic light. So he turned away, and he and his companions began searching the pockets of the dead duergar and the shelves lining the stone walls.
