The date is January 20, 2024.
Your New Years was somewhat uneventful. You sat down with your loved ones, of which you have very few, and tried to enjoy the New Years. You barely even smiled.
Now, 20 days later, you’re sat in a small security office at the entrance of the mall, with barely anyone coming and going. Your uniform is tight, itchy, and sort of uncomfortable.
You’ve always wound up in boring and sometimes poor paying jobs like this. Even if the job goes well and you’re happy for a bit, something always goes wrong. It’s as if some powerful, possibly even godly, supernatural force controls everything around you, trying to hold you back and keeping you miserable, blind from the truth, seeing what you’re really capable of. But oh well, no time for questioning that, you’ve got a job to do!
and you’re not even doing your job. You’re busy daydreaming in your office chair, imagining that you’re in a shootout in the mall, a determined look on your face as you fend off against some masked men, an M1911 in your hands. BANG BANG! and a bad guy goes down.
“ARRRGGG!!”
One of them yells, falling down an escalator as they take a .45 ACP to the shoulder and leg. It’s a brutal scene… Another one is hit, and yells:
“Hey man, are you paying attention to me?”
”What?” You think, wondering why the criminal yelled that of all things, and sounded like Tony. You open your eyes, and are met with your ugly and nerdy co-worker, Tony, leaning over you with his glasses glinting in the sunlight.
(Tony) “Dude, we’re swapping shifts. You’re gonna be patrolling the mall with Matt.”
Oh God. You hate that job, especially Matt. He’s always so cocky and obnoxious. But, you don’t have much of a choice. Might as well do your job…
