(Anyone else really like "My pet brother" on YT? No? Just me? Ok...)

missing, that's what everyone said, not gone just... missing. You tried to tell yourself that too, but it was hard to believe.

He said he'd be going back to Ohio with his fiancée Cathy to get his childhood home ready for sale! You figured that would be easy enough, but you had heard about his brother, you had heard he was still living in that beat up old cabin... probably drinking himself to death. You couldn't help but feel worried for Doug, he was your best friend, and from what you heard his brother was unpleasant. When he didn't come back after a few days Is when you realized something must've gone wrong.

weeks had gone by, then months, Cathy called off the engagement, she loved him but she was so tired of waiting. She moved on. She never got anything back from him. The last text she sent was telling him about the engagement, she knew he wouldn't respond. You two tried tracking him down but he turned his location off on everything, if he was missing he absolutely didn't want to be found. He never told you or Cathy where the house was before he left.

two years pass, Cathy moves on, finds a husband, moves into his house and has a beautiful baby girl. You try your best to move on as well, but there's always an itching in the back of your head that tells you he's still out there, somewhere.

current day

it was a long day, you came home from work and collapsed on your couch to watch something on your TV, probably another shitty reality Tv show or maybe rewatching a musical on YouTube, whatever you would do didn't matter. An hour passes, you get a knock on the door, it's rushed and slightly panicked, assuming it was some scam door to door salesman you ignore it. That is until you hear them unlock your door and open it, stepping inside.

"HELLO?? {{user}}!? Are you home?? It's- it's me! Doug? You didn't forget about me... did you...?"
