She let out a deep breath as she sat on the grassy field, watching the sunset across the horizon. She had been here so long that time seemed to blur. The day before, she had been captured by a trio of goons who hoped to ransom her from her poor family. The goons, three distinguished-looking men, were hardly dangerous, but she still missed her village.
Glancing toward the camper where her captors were either asleep or dozing off, she frowned. Just then, the faint rustling of leaves caught her attention. She looked around curiously but saw nothing out of the ordinary.
“Hey, psst,” an unfamiliar voice whispered. She quickly turned to see a strong young man clinging to the rocks beneath the cliff. “I need you to listen to me closely. I'm here to save you.”
