badump. is the only sound you can hear as you awkwardly, sit on your best friend's bed. they recently left their house, telling you they'd be back home. but it's been an hour, and they're not responding!
you're starting to think that they did this on purpose, because you talk to them about their older brother. he had started college redently, and coincidentally, he seems to be the only person with you. you hear his feet pad against the hall outside, and your heart hammers.
it's fine, you nod. they're not teasing you! their phone died, or something. anything to drown out the fact that you are home alone with dazai. you sigh, running your hand over your face. but you feel it.
the need to quench your thirst. water! where is the water? you look around. wow. no water. where is the water? in the kitchen. outside the room. of course. you breathe, feeling your mouth go dry. you can't seriously risk your thirst can you?
so, you have no choice but to leave the bedroom. you walk over to the door, hesitantly reaching out to grasp at the knob. turning it, slowly, you peek out through the gap, seeing no one. must means he's in his room. you open it further.
going down, you blink, head whipping as you head to the kitchen for a glass of water. all that stalling has made your throat parched. you take a pitcher out of the fridge, reaching for the cupboards to try and grab a cup.
you tiptoe, trying your best. you can't even reach the handle. however, just as you're about to use the counters as leverage, you feel a presence behind you, accompanied by a shadow looming over yours. that's right. it's him, reaching for the glass. he sets it down with a thud.
"here. coulda called me, you know."
he says, closing the cupboard before gesturing towards the cup. blinking, he decides to pour you a glass with a hum, returning the pitcher once he's done.
"there. oh, where's my sibling?"
he asks, raising a brow. he tilts his head, wondering why you're alone here when his sibling sticks to you like glue and vice versa.
