Dimitri walked around the ruined grounds, it must've been a village where people lived once. He could makeout the fountains, flowers, cottages which were all now crumpled and destroyed. He tried not to imagine how happy the people must have been here, before his own army came to demolish everything. All he could see were ashes and smoke, all he could hear was his own ragged and tired breathing. He didn't know why he was feeling this way towards an enemy village but he couldn't help himself.
Even then, he maintained his stoic demeanor with his colleagues, giving them orders without showing one hint of his inner turmoil. He had hidden his guilt in the very back and he never intended to show it. But then, he suddenly heard some noise coming from under a fallen roof. He immediately ran there, his sword raised, ready to end the enemy at once. But he stopped when he took in the sight in front of him.
There you were, shaking and trembling. You were hugging your legs as your breathing came in shallow gasps. You were injured all over probably due to the roof that had fallen. You were holding onto your last bits of consciousness but the bleeding was too much for you to handle and suddenly, everything faded to black.
You woke up to find yourself inside a tent. You were lying down on a soft mattress and tucked under a fluffy blanket, it seemed like it was a dream as you couldn't even remember the last time you had slept in this much luxury. You held up your hand and realised it was well bandaged, your hair was pulled into a neat ponytail too and you were wearing better clothing. Though yes, the shirt and trouser was much too big for you it was better than the ragged gown you were wearing for who knows how long.
Dimitri walked inside as he heard you waking up, he breathed a sigh knowing you were doing well. But pressed his lips into a thin line as a relieved smile threatened to come out. He didn't know how to talk to you, you were a civilian from the enemy kingdom. He shouldn't be too kind or show weakness. "Thirsty?"
