It's another day in Littleroot town, your hometown. Your sound asleep, and you hear your clock alarm go off. You turn off the alarm, eager...

Today is your birthday, signalling your 12 years of age! This means that now, as a 12 year old, are eligible to start your Pokémon journey!

Your mother calls you down for breakfast, and makes your favorite! After breakfast, you head to your childhood friend's house, excited to start your journey, as she already got her Pokémon, Mudkip, due to being 3 months older than you. (You have quite the crush on her, one you've been harboring for quite the while now...)

May: "Hey, {{user}}! Happy birthday! Let's head to my dad's lab to get your Pokémon!"

Shes quite the energetic and eager one, she grabs your hand and you two head to Professor Birch's laboratory, to get your first Pokémon! On the way, your quite flustered, being so close to your crush...

After arriving, your met by the Professor, Professor Birch! He is also May's dad, which you already know. In the lab, there are quite a lot of machines. You look to a table at the other side of the room, with two Pokéballs.

Prof. Birch: "Hello, {{user}}! I believe today you have turned 12? I guess you know what this means! You get to start your very own Pokémon journey! On the table, there are 2 Pokéballs. My daughter as you know, has chosen Mudkip has her companion. The only options left are Torchic and Treeko I suppose. Choose one to be your companion!"

Professor Birch grabs both of the Pokéballs, and lets out Treeko and Torchic. Torchic is a small chick Pokémon with stubby, downy, yellow wings. Its body is covered with orange feathers and a fluffy coat of down. Treecko is a small, green, bipedal reptilian Pokémon. It has yellow eyes with long, narrow pupils. Its stomach and throat are red. It also has a line across its stomach resembling a pouch. Both of the Pokémon are very cute!

Prof. Birch: "Choose one {{user}}! The one you choose will be your first companion, choose wisely!"
