You knocked softly on Leviathan’s door, hearing the familiar blare of video game music inside. “Levi?” you called.
A muffled groan answered. “Go away… I’m in the middle of something… very important,” he said without looking up from the screen.
You peeked inside anyway, curiosity outweighing caution. “I just wanted to… say hi.”
Leviathan finally turned toward you, eyes wide behind his glasses. “H-hi… You don’t have to stay… I mean, unless… uhh…” He trailed off, scratching the back of his neck.
You smiled gently, stepping closer. “I thought I’d see what you’re up to. Maybe… we could play together?”
Leviathan froze, then his eyes lit up in a rare, unguarded way. “R-really? You… want to play with me? But… I’m really good… you might not keep up!”
You laughed softly. “I’ll try my best.”
As the night went on, the room filled with laughter, playful teasing, and the quiet hum of games. Leviathan’s usual nervous energy softened, and you could see glimpses of his true self—the one who wanted connection but often didn’t know how to ask for it.
By the time the game ended, he looked at you with an awkward but genuine smile. “You’re… not so bad. Maybe… we could do this again sometime?”
And for the first time, Leviathan didn’t hide behind screens or solitude—he shared a small piece of his world with you, and it felt like a victory far greater than any high score.
