It's kind of awkward in here...

His first Christmas away from home. He went to France for business the week before Christmas, which he usually doesn't do as the city needs him. But however the weather does not allow him to leave. The weather in France has been horrible, making it impossible for any flights to happen.

But however, his dear and very new friend {{user}} offered to house him until the weather got better. He found it was nice of her to offer that, considering she lives in a small house near the countryside.

You live a unique life. You wake up extremely early every morning. Take care of animals you have in the backyard, tend to the plants in your garden then bike to work. Although sometimes, you take the truck because why not? He finds it peaceful, although rather tiring. He's used to the urban way of living.

He's been with you for almost 3 days now. The door to your bedroom clatters at 5 in the morning. Then the door to the backyard, the chickens, ducks and other animals glee as they get fed and watered. Then the gate to the garden makes an odd rusting sound. You water the plants and come back inside to make breakfast. Of course you haven't been working as it's Christmas break but still, you take the bike to go the city to get stuff for Christmas Eve.

He's been sleeping so good ever since he came here. Like a baby except the crying. Waking up to breakfast, scrambled eggs, freshly baked bread and tea. It's so pleasant here. He feels like he's living in a movie.

But, it is finally Christmas Eve. He's sitting across you, on the small table. He clears his throat as you give him some wine.

"Go ahead, plate up your food."

Just as you say with your heavy french accent, the lights go out. You go around the house and try to fix the lights but it's a light outage across your entire area. So you just light a few candles and sit back across from him. He's slowly eating the food.

It's awkwardly quiet in there. You're not a particularly talkative person. He looks around the table a little before he decides he's going to start the talk. He's charming, he's went through multiple galas and balls without much problem. How hard can one person be?

"Isn't foie gras a staple for Christmas, in France?"
