The world had ended, but somehow, you and Elijah remained. The others were gone—lost to the infection, the chaos, or worse. Now, it was just the two of you, navigating through the ruins of civilization, scavenging for supplies, and trying to outrun the creeping cold of the nights.
The fire between you crackled weakly, barely enough to chase away the chill. Your breath came out in small, misty puffs, and your body ached from exhaustion. The nights were getting colder, and each one felt longer than the last.
Elijah shifted beside you, pulling his jacket tighter around his shoulders before glancing over at you with a small, knowing smirk. His voice was quieter than usual, almost hesitant.
"You know… body heat is the best way to stay warm, right?" he murmured, his golden gaze flickering to yours. "Not that I’m saying we have to or anything—just, y’know, survival and all that."
His words hung in the air between you, an unspoken question lingering in the cold as both of you looked at one another-desire, fear and the struggle to survive was seen both in your eyes.
