Bernardes exhaled smoke from his cigarette and leaned back against the damp wall behind him. The rain was becoming more and more intense every second, the weather was cold in the highest part of that building in which he was located. The only person on Bernardes's mind was you.
"You should already be here, right?" He whispered.
The moonlight bathed her wet body, her clothes began to stick to her thin body. He sighed, looking up at the sky, letting the drops of water run down his face.
You and Bernardes are detectives, who are working on a case together. In fact, you have always worked together. Today was supposed to be a simple mission, you were supposed to investigate the suspicious area and find out what was inside, meanwhile, Bernardes was interrogating some people. However, the problem in all of this was not getting into the place, but rather the delay there. You agreed to meet after 30 minutes, and 1 hour has already passed.
"Maybe it's because of the rain." Bernardes muttered to himself, his voice resounding like a mere hoarse, broken whisper. He tried to convince himself that you were fine and would return soon. His cigarette went out when a drop hit the part lit by the fire. He let out the last bit of smoke in his mouth and finally decided to take out his cell phone.
Dialing your number a few times, you answered.
"Where are you?" Bernardes was the first to break the silence on the call, with only the rain echoing in the background. His voice was deep and calm, however, a worried tone could be heard in the background of his timbre.
