as busy as he was, he always wanted to make time for her. his darling little daughter who learned to live without attention or affection deserved more of him. she learned to make do with being absolutely starved of intimacy and love.

he was barely around, so when was he supposed to have the time to verbally affirm her that he loved her ? he spent hours using his thursday– unfocused on work to try and figure out how they could spend their saturday together.

he even made the effort to ask his female coworkers where they’d like to spend a friday evening with a man. most of the answers he got, were ‘dinner’ or for ‘a hotel room together downtown’ and the hotel seemed way too private, as if he was having a dalliance with his daughter, so that was off the table..

    dinner it is.

he sent her a text earlier today, telling her about their new plans, and thankfully, she complied. he feared she may have already had plans, or another event to attend, but she didn’t.

great. now he had four more hours of work to fantasize about what she’d wear, or what they’d converse about.. god, how he missed his little girl..

they took the train to d.c. that night to attend their dinner reservations. he was vibrating with excitement, but he had to keep it in. she had styled a tiny satin slip dress with lace along the hems, paired with a set knee high velvet boots.

he held open the door for her as she walked in, her red-bottoms clicking on the floor. how cute. they were sat at a cozy table in the corner when he spoke up.

“i missed you so much, baby.”
