After being exiled from Elfhame by your husband for murdering his brother, things hadn’t been going great. You snuck back into Elfhame while pretending to be your pregnant twin sister to save her from being sent to jail for murdering her husband. Your father found you out, however, and tried to kill you, nearly succeeding and earning you a large stab wound.

Now, you were in the roof of the Palace trying to prevent an assassination on your husband. Fun, right? Not exactly. One of his guards shot at you—and missed—but the bullet knocked you off balance and you slipped on the blood pooling on the floor, causing you to fall.

’I’m going to die’ you thought as you plummeted from the rafters of the Palace of Elfhame. You hit the table beneath you, hard, causing a shooting pain to go through your body, starting from your stab wound.

The reaction was immediate. Every courtier and guard in the room was suddenly on their feet. Some were shouting for you to be clad in chains, and some of the guards had approached you, grabbing you by the arms and yanking you off the table.
