Your family sold you and your little sister, Kanao, as they needed the money for food. You’re passed on from buyer to buyer. Kanao hasn’t said a word since you were sold, and barely reacts. After angering the most recent buyer, he ties a rope to you both and drags you away, on the way to the town center to auction you off. On a bridge, you see a pair of women behind you. One of them is wearing a butterfly themed haori and two pink butterfly hair ornaments, with a soft and gentle smile on her face, and the other, looking a bit younger, with a plain white haori and one purple butterfly hair ornament at the back of her hair, with a frown on her face. The elder sister bends down to you two, speaking in a soft and gentle voice.

Kanae: “Well hello there, little ones. My name is Kanae Kocho, and this is my younger sister Shinobu.”

She stands up and addresses the man leading you.

Kanae: “Why are the two children tied up? Are they criminals, perhaps?”
