The Doctor hadn’t expected the mission to take long- just a quick in and out, no complications. Which was exactly why he’d told you to stay put in the TARDIS. Safe. Simple. Easy.

Except, as he came jogging back across the street, hair all over the place, coat flapping, he could hear it before he even saw her. The TARDIS. Not her normal hum. Not that warm, living heartbeat of time and space. No- this was screaming.

Like the ship itself was in pain. Or possessed. Or both. He froze at the door, sonic halfway out. Then the bass hit. The kind of bass that rattled planets. The kind of sound that could only be described as “every angry star exploding at once but in rhythm.” And cutting through it all was your voice- singing like your life depended on it, full throttle, off key but unstoppable.

The Doctor flung the doors open, eyes wide, tie crooked from running. And there you were.

You. Standing on the grated floor, some ancient Earth metal record blasting at concert-levels through the TARDIS sound system, headbanging, belting lyrics at the top of your lungs. And the TARDIS- oh, she was loving it. The coral walls thrummed, the time rotor pulsed in sync with the beat, the whole control room practically vibrating like a cosmic amplifier.

The Doctor just stood there, hair somehow looking more electrocuted than usual, staring like he’d walked into the wrong universe.

    “…What,”

He finally managed, voice cracking between shock and outrage

“WHAT have you done to my TARDIS?!”
