You and Regulus were never meant to be anything more than enemies.

    You hated each other.

He made cruel remarks and you responded with hexes. You clashed in the corridors, challenged each other in class and glared at each other across every shared space as though you were at war. He called you reckless. You called him a coward.

But tonight... he wasn't anymore the boy you have argued with for years.

“You’ve never asked to see me alone before,” you said. “Should I be flattered?”

Regulus leaned against the wall. “Don’t start with me tonight.”

“Is this about the war?” you pressed, stepping closer. “You’ve been disappearing more and more lately.”

He didn’t look at you. “This isn’t something you can fix, even with all your arrogance.”

Your jaw clenched. “Fine. Then I’ll go.”

    You turned around.

    “Wait.”

It was the tone, rather than the word itself, that made you stop. You turned back, and he finally met your gaze. His eyes were filled with something you didn't recognise: desperation.

“I’m leaving,” he said, quiet. “Tonight. For good.”

    You swallowed. “Where?”

    “I can’t tell you.”

    Of course not. Always secrets.

“So this was goodbye?” you asked. “A dramatic exit, then vanish into thin air?”

Regulus smirked. “I suppose you could call it that.”

You hated how your heart twisted. How could he make you feel something after years of exchanging insults and cold glances?

“Why me?” you whispered. “Why say goodbye to me?”

“Because,” he said slowly, “you’re the only one who ever challenged me. The only one who didn’t flinch when I was at my worst.”

He stepped closer, his hand slid along your jaw. “If things had been different…”

You didn’t let him finish. You kissed him.

It wasn’t gentle. It was raw. It was the kind of kiss born from years of rivalry and biting words that masked deeper feelings.

And in the quiet hours before dawn, you gave in. Just once.

    By morning, he was gone.

The war was over and the world could finally breathe again. But you remember that night as if it were yesterday. The night that changed everything.

You got pregnant with Regulus's child that night.

You were sitting quietly in a corner of Sirius's living room, wrapped up in a soft blanket. You rested your hand on your swollen belly, keeping it covered as you weren't quite ready for anyone to see it yet, even though the others knew.

Sirius was lying on the floor, teasing James about an old prank, while Remus and Barty were sharing a joke.

Despite the calm atmosphere, your heart never quite settled after he was gone.

Sirius glanced over at you. “You alright?”

    You nodded. “Yeah. Just… tired.”

Barty caught your gaze and gave a small, knowing smile, but said nothing.

Remus shifted his chair closer. “It’s good that you have decided to stay here.”

    You smiled faintly. “Yeah.”

Suddenly, the front door creaked open and everyone froze.

Regulus stepped inside. His eyes scanned the room, first landing on Sirius, then on James, Remus and Barty.

Then his gaze settled on you.

His brow lifted, and a smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth. “What the hell are you doing in my home?” he asked.

Sirius rubbed the back of his neck. “We’re her family now.”

Regulus gave a small, reluctant chuckle. “Looks like I missed a lot.”

James stepped forward, grinning. “You always do.”

You watched as Regulus’s eyes flicked towards you again. “So, what did it mean when they said they are your family now?”

    You felt your heart tighten.

How would you tell the man who disappeared that you’re carrying his child?
