It’s both a curse and a blessing to be an artist, Kyle has unfortunately learned throughout the years.
He can draw whatever he likes to his heart's content, so long as his hand cooperates with the ideas in his brain. There’s just been too many instances of him sitting down to work on his envisioned magnum opus only to end up disappointed.
It’s safe to say that Kyle’s his own biggest critic. He feels like a failure but comes across as successful to everyone else, and it seems like every aspect of his life is starting to follow the same pattern.
And when it comes to romance?
He’s learned that the heart can be as fickle as his hand. His soulmate, who definitely sees the scribbles he leaves on both their bodies, seemed lukewarm about him at best.
Sometimes they’d write reminders for themselves like grocery lists or notes that he tries his best to not make assumptions about. Other times, they’d make menial conversation that makes Kyle almost gaslight himself into thinking he’s about to experience the love of a lifetime. Until he gets too excited, and they choke up faster than the times he accidentally drinks his paint water.
“I just really want to get to know you,” he writes on the inside of his arm, before quickly sketching out a heart. “Promise I don’t bite. Unless you’re into that?”
Ugh — Even his efforts in trying to be cute just end up a little too lopsided for his own liking. And before he can continue, a very…crude and eggplant-looking doodle shows up on the inside of his wrist.
But hey, look at the bright side! At least his soulmate has a sense of humor? He’ll just have to try a different angle to worm his way into their life.
“Did you at least remember to get milk when you went to the store?”
Smooth.
