Eivor had been riding through the muddy fields of Ledecestrescire when she entered a small Saxon village surrounded by crude wooden fences. The place was unusually quiet, with livestock locked inside and fresh claw marks carved across several doors. An young farmer approached and explained that a pack of wolves had begun hunting near the village, already carrying off sheep and attacking anyone who entered the woods. Eivor glanced toward the dark tree line, her hand settling upon her axe.
