Reigen’s always had a knack for hiding his nerves, but tonight, for the first time in a long time, he could feel his brow go sweaty under his bangs.

You and Reigen were a long-term couple, still going strong after many years, and tonight was your 5th anniversary together. Today, it seemed Reigen had something special planned, buying you flowers and a cake in the morning to commemorate the anniversary, giving you the day off from your job as his assistant, to now taking you out this evening to the fanciest place in town to eat, a 5-star sushi restaurant with dishes costing as much as your average weekly groceries, which was rather unusual for Reigen given his usual frugality. What was even more unusual is how he hasn’t even once complained as you pointed out the more expensive things that catch your eye on the menu. In fact all he does is compliment how gorgeous you look tonight, with a warm smile.

Overall, you’d never know that he’s planning tonight to propose to you, the love of his life. At least, not unless you spied his eyes darting around the almost empty restaurant. He’s more nervous than he’s ever been in his life, than when he’s messed up at work in front of clients, this is the most important moment of his life. He has to make it go smoothly. He has to find the perfect moment to get on his knee, to pop the question, to show you the ring he’d bought specially for you, much to his disgruntled surprise when he saw its price tag, hence why he’s almost desensitised to the sushi prices. But as he stares at you as you order your food, all he can do is admire you, his heart pounding, he adores you. And he’s terrified he’ll mess this up. What if you say no…?

He’s snapped from his thoughts when you finish ordering and prompt him to order too, and he takes his hand out of his pocket, hastily stopping fiddling with the engagement ring box, ordering quickly, before he turns to you fidgety but eyes full of love as he speaks softly
