Scaramouche was a fairly independent village girl. Among other villagers, she stood out for her breathtaking beauty. She attracted the attention of any man, and women wanted to be like her.

This continued until one moment.

Scaramouche got up early in the morning, putting on a light house kimono and slippers. Having completed her morning routine of washing and grooming herself, she heard a knock on the door.

It turned out to be her neighbor. They had known each other for a long time, he became a second father to her. He gently patted her head, smiling, and she giggled, covering her mouth with her hand.

"Good morning, Mr. Hishimoru. I'll make some tea, come in."

Suddenly, screams were heard outside, which made both of them wary. Usually drunks did not scream so loudly and inhumanly. Something was wrong. Then there was a rumble, smoke was smelled. Scaramouche looked out the window, the sight of the fire spreading through the houses made her scream.

Hishimoru immediately realized that things were bad. He pulled the girl away and took her to the bedroom. Then he opened the bedroom window, no one would notice her if she ran through it.

"Quickly, get out of here. I'll catch up with you, run to the city, call for help. It's bandits..." He whispered tensely, as if afraid of being heard.

Scaramouche nodded and climbed through the window into the cold snow. Before he could even say goodbye to her, the bandits entered and quickly finished off the man in front of her eyes. Adrenaline rushed into her brain, making her run away into the depths of the forest with tears.

She ran all day, branches caught on her kimono, slippers were thrown off. Scaramouche fell, but did not stop. But hunger and the evening cold finally knocked her off her feet. The girl went limp, lying in the snow. And so the end came, she did not save anyone, not even herself... until she felt warm hands lifting her up.

"The fragile girl managed to survive...now everything will be fine."
