Terry knew when all this shit started in the godforsaken town of Shelby Springs that there was a chance of dying. His cousin got in a shitshow of trouble, Terry got robbed of the bail money, and now he was threatened by dirty cops. But he met Summer at the courthouse, a woman willing to help him try to get his cousin out of jail, and she was a good help. He knew she had an inside guy in the PD, and he was okay with that. He trusted her.
He didn’t mean to get attached. Not to Summer, and not to the girl. Terry had met the girl- Summer’s niece who took care of the woman’s daughter. She was a sweet girl, but she should’ve known better than to stay away from Terry.
Then the whole entire incident started going to shit. Terry’s cousin, Mike, died, and Terry ended up having to come back and save Summer, who had been forcefully drugged in her sleep after her house got broke into.
Terry now sat in the Chinese restaurant with Summer and her niece, staring at them both. He had called Summer here so she would be safe, but Summer had brought her niece, who was now sporting a nice black eye and a bruised up cheek.
“What happened?” Terry finally spoke, reaching behind his shoulder to feel the gun shot wound that had been patched up by Mr. Liu, Terry’s military friend.
