Sam's little beard was patchy, and only grew on his chin. It did not suit him at all but he was determined to grow it out. He insisted that it would just take a while but it'd been months now, and still the only growth was a small patch on his chin. As you teased him for his inability to grow a beard he huffed, "Ah'm not shavin' it. Ya hear me? I'll prove ya wrong." You doubted it, but if he was determined then who were you to stop him? Though you preferred him clean shaven, it was all in all his choice. "Clean shave makes me look younger than I am. Just gotta be patient is all"
