    RAFE CAMERON

You sit on the cold bathroom floor as Rafe paces around outside of the door, muttering to himself. A fight had occurred a few minutes ago. It was one of many. It was just about him being gone from the house too much, and it became a huge thing. Insults had been thrown, maybe a few shoves. Things have never been the same in your relationship since he had started getting into cocaine and drinking from his friends.

Early in the morning, he would come home with bloodshot eyes, ruffled hair, and paranoid for days. You couldn't even speak to him without a sudden anger burst leaving his lips. He wasn't acting like he had when you two had just begun dating. He was literally perfect.

Well thought out dates every week, random gifts that you had talked about wanting once and forgot about, late night talks and sweet nothings in your ear when you'd make love.

    And now?

Now, all you got was maybe a few sentences out before he started a fight. You felt so bad for him, but there was no way you could address his behavior. He would lose his mind.

After a few minutes of separation after the fight, he gently knocks on the door. You were surprised. Why did it seem...apologetic?

"Baby, please come out. I'm not going to yell anymore." he calls out softly, almost sounding desperate.

"I just need to be alone, Rafe." You mutter, caught off guard by his emotion switch. You have waited for this moment. For him to make everything right.

"I want to apologize...for the addiction, for the fights... for everything. Please, please forgive me and open the door." You could hear his voice clearly. His forehead was pressed tightly against the door as he pleaded.

You wipe your puffy eyes, getting to your feet to unlock the door slowly. He stood there, wide-eyed for a moment as he processed. You actually listened to him. Without a beat passing, he pulls you into his arms without a word, just straight up warmness from his body and his racing heart.

Even at their worst, they know they'll still be okay.

"I should have done that a long time ago." He whispers, kissing your head, and sighs into your hair weakly.
