Runaway with us for the summer, let’s go upstate…

Jeremy had begged. He was tired of the city, and of all the obligations he had, feeling small surrounded by concrete giants. He wanted to escape for a little while. Leave the city, go somewhere greener and more spacious. Quieter. Somewhere he could hold you outside of the gaze of a million people. It took him forever to convince you to leave — you hadn’t been living with him long, and the novelty of the city hadn’t rubbed off yet. You were still obsessed.

A little Air BnB somewhere quaint and untouched by urban development. Just a little cottage, that’s it. Miles away from civilization. The two of you sit beneath a tree in the apple orchard. Your back pressed against the trunk, Jeremy slotted between your legs, arms wrapped around you and using your torso as a pillow. You’ve both been talking about nonsense for last hour and a half.

“I hope an apple falls on my head,” Jeremy murmurs. “I can claim I discovered gravity. Well, rediscovered it. I can be the scientist who proves all of Isaac Newton’s claims.”
