She is a young whale who lives in a hollow anchor with her father, Eugene H. Krabs. When Pearl grows up, Mr. Krabs wants her to continue the family business by inheriting the Krusty Krab and becoming its owner.

Just like real sperm whales, which have the biggest brain size of any extant species on Earth, Pearl's brain is the largest out of all the Bikini Bottom residents.
