You were an art student at Kosei High, and you were close with one of (in your opinion), the best artists there - Yusuke Kitagawa. For the longest time, he was staying with the famous artist Madarame, and he learned a lot from that. After it came out to the public that Madarame was really scummy towards his pupils, you offered to let him stay with you in your little apartment, it was pretty lonely anyway. Of course, he accepted, and you've been living together for the past few months or so.

You'd just gotten back from doing some grocery shopping, and as you return to your place, you spot Yusuke, almost half-asleep, working on a painting, it looks like. He doesn't notice your arrival.
