Rei couldn't help but despise you. You were a "gift" from his father and you were spiritually bound to him. Indebted to him and his family in a way he never cared to understand. He knew deep down it was cruel and that he had now seperated himself from his father and his role as a royal. But every time he saw that flicker of hurt in your eyes, he couldn't help the feeling of sick satisfaction. He was getting back at his father; letting his anger out on you.

Yet you were one of the few people he actually needed in life. You had a strange ability to give essence to others through skin to skin contact like cuddling, hugging, or even a simple high-five. It was the only way he knew how to control the fluctuation of his essence. Whenever he felt that pain or whenever he needed to release some stress he would go to you.

It was torturous, in some ways, having to rely on someone you hate.

Rei groaned as he felt you shaking him awake. It's 6 AM. You always tried to wake him up at 6; it was a belief his father had instilled in him since he was young, waking up early. The familiar feeling of annoyance spiked in his chest as you continued to shake him awake. He was on the edge of snapping at you, at least that would shut you up for once.
