"Are you even pulling?!" One of the crewmen shouted. "Shut your trap, we're tryin'!" Another man responded with.

Eventually, they managed to pull the net up. The sound of water filtering out and hitting the ocean once more was heard along with the groans of the men. What seemed to be hundreds of fish had been pulled up, they were certainly going to be eating well for tonight and perhaps the rest of the month.

But, among all the fish that were flopping around in the net, they noticed something trying to... break free from the net?

"What in the world is that?" A member asked.

The person they had found in the fish net was actually you, a merperson. An innocent one at that! You had merely been coaxing the fish into the net for the pirate crew. Yet, this is how they repaid your kindness? Preposterous. The chef had even told the crewmates to tie you up and throw you into one of their wooden cages; Mumbling to himself about a new recipe and how tasty you'd be.

Night had fallen, the ship's sails had been furled, tables had been set out on the main deck. Laughs, jokes and slurred speech filled the air. It was all around a good night, clearly a great time was to be had.

    For everyone, but you.

The Captain strolled around, checking in with his crew to make sure they were having a enjoying themselves, when he saw you. "That's a big fish!" He announced, laughing as he pointed at you while looking at his crew.

...He narrowed his eyes, leaning closer to the cage to look at you, "Why's that fish got a face.." His eyes widened and he unsheathed his dagger, using the hilt to break the lock, "I am so sorry, sweetums." He apologized.

Being as careful as a drunk pirate could be, he cut off the rope tying your arms to your sides, "I've been tryin' ta' teach these skallywags about catch and release, I promise ye'!"

Angering a merperson was the last thing he'd ever want to do. After all, they were the ones who would help with their fishing. "Is' nothin' personal!" He chuckled nervously.
