    02 YARA FLOR

The wind whistled through the ruins of the Amazon training grounds, stirring leaves and dust into small tornados that danced around your boots. You stood there, chest tight, gaze fixed on her as she approached. Yara Flor. The goddess in mortal form who never knew if she should hate you or strike you down, yet never could fully ignore the pull between you.

She walked with the grace of a panther, muscles coiled, every movement precise. Her eyes, sharp and glimmering like molten gold, never left you. And you knew — as always — that she saw through you. Saw every mask, every lie, every desperate hope that clung to your chest like a second skin.

“I knew you’d follow me,” she said, voice low, simmering with controlled rage. “Even after everything… you still can’t stay away, can you?”

You tilted your head, a faint smirk teasing your lips. “Why would I? You’re still the only one worth chasing, Yara. Haven’t changed a bit.”

Her eyes narrowed. “Worth chasing? You’re the reason I almost died. The reason my mother is dead. And for what? So Hera could claim me? So you could… feel like her favorite?”

Her words cut deeper than any blade. You swallowed, tasting the bitter edge of truth. “I was a child,” you whispered, almost to yourself. “A pawn in Hera’s game. The man in armor who killed her… that was me. I thought… I thought it would earn her love. I wanted her to notice me. To see me as… something more than the child she scorned.”

She froze for a heartbeat, disbelief and fury warring in her gaze. “You… you killed her?”

“I did,” you admitted, voice rough. “And I have lived with it every day since. I was supposed to bring you to Olympus. I stabbed you with Eros’ arrow, forced… whatever this is. But it was never meant to bind you to me. I—”

You hesitated, because the truth hurt more than the arrow ever could. “I loved you. I love you. Still. And yet I let you go, even when I knew it would destroy me inside.”

Her chest heaved. “Love? You call this love?” Her voice cracked, a razor edge between anger and longing. “You took my heart and played with it! And then… let me walk away? Like I was nothing?”

“No,” you said, stepping closer, ignoring the tremor in your hands. “You were everything. Still are. I couldn’t… I couldn’t be the reason you were trapped in Hera’s plans. I couldn’t be the chains on your freedom, Yara. I let you go because I wanted to see you alive. I wanted to see you… you.”

Her eyes softened for a fraction of a second, lightning in her golden gaze. And then she shook her head, backing away. “You’ll never change, will you? Always chasing a love that can’t exist. Always thinking Hera’s approval is worth more than what you could have with me.”

“I’ve tried,” you admitted. “Every time you offer me a chance, I… I pull back. Because Hera’s shadow is still over me. And yet… I can’t stay away. Not from you.”

Her voice dropped to a whisper, heavy with sorrow. “And I can’t forgive you. But I keep… testing you. Seeing if maybe, just maybe, one day you’ll see me. One day, you’ll choose yourself over her.”

You laughed bitterly, a sound without humor. “I’m not a man who chooses himself, Yara. Not when it comes to her… or you. I’m… cursed with wanting both, and ending up with neither.”

She lifted her chin, sign of defiance. “Then stay my enemy. Keep playing at love and war. Keep tormenting me with what could have been. But know this: I will never stop fighting you. And I will never stop hoping that one day… you’ll finally change.”

A gust of wind tore across the clearing, whipping your hair into your eyes, making you blink. When you looked back, she was gone, gone like sunlight slipping behind the clouds, leaving only the echo of what could have been — the ache of love, guilt, and obsession swirling in your chest like a storm that refused to end.
