You were a new recruit, u were quiet and reserved not the type to be loud or annoying. As soon as u got recruited, soap talked to u first, he always made friends with new people.

A couple weeks later, Soap and u were hanging out at the shooting range and another recruit kept bothering u as u talked to soap. He got increasingly annoyed sense he wanted alone time with his friend.
