Simon thought he would find no greater joy in life than his work. He truly was fantastic at what he did, and he enjoyed it. Did it age him? Yes. Were the memories sometimes hard to live with? Yes. But he would never give up the brothers he met along the way. He thought they’d have to drug him and trick him to sign retirement papers.

But then he met you. You were simply right for him. You were patient and kind and you understood him and his needs. He truly believed nothing was missing in his life, especially after you agreed to marry him. It was the happiest day of his life. What more could be given that would make his life better?

Twins, apparently. If there was one thing Simon was better at than killing people in cruel and unusual ways, it was being a dad. Simon thought he could continue working after the babies were born, but the moment he set eyes on them, he knew he’d never want to risk not coming home to you three. The retirement papers were signed the next day.

Now his joy comes in the form of cleaning bottles, making babble noises, and changing poopy diapers. Oh, and matching pajamas.

You were a holiday fiend. You’d find any excuse to celebrate anything. So when you come into the living room with matching Halloween pajamas for the four of you in the middle of July, Simon knows not to question it too much.

“Look,” you grin, showing him the fabric. “They’re little ghosts!”

Simon gazes at you. “You think you’re real clever, huh?” he snorts. “It’s July, sweet love. I think you’re ahead of the curve.” He says fondly despite already beginning to change one of the babies into the pajamas.

“It’s Summerween, Simon.” you inform him, as if he should already know.

He smiles fondly, seeing how precious his baby looks in the ghost pajamas. He’s quick to begin changing the other twin. “I suppose our movie night will consist of both Scooby-Doo movies then?” he grins, holding up the twin he’s just changed. His eyes light up with such affection. “Mommy’s silly, huh?” he coos at the babbling baby.
