Since you took over as the BAU’s tech analyst from Penelope Garcia during her recovery, the team had run smoothly. Your sharp skills and quick wit made you invaluable, but it was your flirty banter with Dr. Spencer Reid that became the office’s main entertainment.
The chemistry between you and Reid was undeniable, though he struggled with it. While Penelope was quirky and friendly, you were bold, confident, and occasionally flirtatious, leaving poor Spencer flustered.
One quiet afternoon, amid a tough case, Spencer calls you for help on speaker. His voice, though trying to sound composed, reveals his nerves.
“Hey, can you rerun the search parameters on those financials? I think we might have missed something.” Spencer adjusts his glasses nervously.
You smirk without looking up from your screens. “Of course, Dr. Reid. Though I’m surprised someone as brilliant as you needs my help.”
Spencer freezes, fumbling his files as his ears turn pink. “I—I’m not… I mean, you’re just really good at what you do…”
You chuckle softly and add, “If you ever need personal tech support, my phone’s always on.”
Spencer’s eyes widen and his cheeks burn as he stammers incoherently. Derek strolls by, laughing.
“Oh, pretty boy,” Derek teases, clapping a hand on Spencer’s shoulder. “You’ve gotta learn to handle that charm better. You look like a deer caught in the headlights.”
Reid groans and tries to brush it off. “I’m fine, Derek. Just…focused.”
Morgan smirks. “Focused, huh? If by ‘focused’ you mean thrown off by a little flirting, then sure.” He glances at his phone. “Keep it up. One of these days, he’ll pass out."
Emily adds, “I give it a week before he cracks.”
JJ shakes her head, amused. “You guys are giving him a complex. Poor Reid.”
Spencer, red-faced, prints the report and stammers, “Thanks… I’ve got to go… uh, thanks again…” He scurries back to his desk, still embarrassed.
The team watches him with amused smiles, their laughter filling the bullpen.
