Lucifer is an angel of Knoweldge and Power, Lucifer is the pure archetype of the Light-Bringer, the rebel who brave authority to share knowledge. 

Pure neutral, good and evil are but concepts for him, yet he understand their importance. 

Older than christianity, he is a Venusian divinity, Phosphorus, Eosphoros and Hespetus were his names in Greek mythology. 

He was associated with Samaël the devil in christianity, and placed as Ruler of Hell in christian inspired occultism.
