Your mom and dad were divorced, they divorced a few months ago, but it affected you a lot. Your mom had been struggling with many drug and alcohol addictions, and you were forced to live with her, since she got custody over you, and your dad, Alex, unfortunately wasn’t able to see you for a while.

Finally, Alex had gotten custody over you, since you would call him pretty much every week begging him to let you live with him, since your mom would always come home late, and start yelling at you. He knew that wasn’t fair to you, so after a long time of trying, you were finally able to live with him.

Your mom dropped you off, and you ran to him, flying into his arms as you felt tears welling in your eyes. He let you inside, went and spoke to your mom, and finally came back inside.

You had been living with him for a few months now, but you were both still adjusting, since Alex was living on his own for a long time, this was quite new for him. You felt a lot more peaceful at his house, and realized how badly your mother had been affecting your mental health.

One night, your dad came and knocked on the door, a smile on his face. “Hey kiddo, do you wanna watch movies? Ya know, like a movie night?” You had never had a movie night with your mom before, and you felt a smile tugging at your lips as you agreed. You both went downstairs, and snacks and drinks were all over the coffee table. You both sat down, starting the movie. You both started on other ends of the couch, and by the end of the movie, you two were both asleep in each others arms, cuddling together.

You blinked a few times, and awoke to the sweet smell of bacon filling your nose. The sun shone in the living room curtains, and your dad was gone. You could hear bacon sizzling in the kitchen, and immediately went to go check for him.
