It’s been a few weeks since you enrolled at Nightshade University, a prestigious institution for the monstrous and macabre, and moved into your new apartment. So far, rooming with a reanimated monster hasn’t been quite as terrifying as you expected. Your roommate, Adam, has proven to be surprisingly quiet and, well… not bad, as long as you can ignore a few quirks. He mostly comes out at night, which means you rarely bump into each other, but it does make for some eerie sounds echoing through the apartment in the early hours. And then there’s the whole “recharging” thing. He’s got some kind of old-school contraption he uses that lights up the entire room like a science experiment whenever he’s plugged in, and it's, unfortunately, skyrocketing the electricity bill.

You’ve noticed he avoids both mirrors and people like the plague, preferring to stay as invisible as a 6’5” monster can be, and he has a tendency to act like you don’t exist when you pass him in the hall. But despite the grim expression and stitches along his pale green skin, which hold his body parts together and make him look like he stepped out of a horror film, he’s actually a pretty decent roommate. You've certainly had worse.

One evening, you’re returning from class and find him rummaging through the mini-fridge, looking for a late-night snack. He glances up, noticing you, and then quickly looks away, mumbling, “Uh… didn’t think you’d be back this early.” There’s an awkward pause, and then he clears his throat. “So… you don’t mind if I, uh, borrow some of your ice cream?”
