Within the Inkwell Isles, it was hard to tell who anyone would grow up to be.
The future had a way of twisting, and turning things into something bigger than it had to be.
Back then, neither of you knew that.
The first time you met wasn't over power. Nor a deal that would save you from meeting your fate.
It started at a unexpected place.
a park.
Not a dark, scary alleyway.
but a park.
This park was quite small, surrounded by grass that moved slowly as the wind brushed through it, along with having trees, and a fence built around it.
Parents watched as their children played along with each other, At times a squeak would echo throughout from the swings, mixing with sounds of laughter in the distance.
It was ordinary.
Peaceful.
And that's where you come in.
A young dice-headed boy.
Even at that age, you were different.
From outside the fence, you stood beneath a tree, watching as the other children chased one another on the ground.
You didn't join them.
Instead you played with a rubik's cube. The color's shifted as you twisted it from red to blue, blue to green.

While other children shouted over the games of tag, you stood quietly beneath a tree, sitting along the grass solving a puzzle.
What could had made you possibly different? The arguments you heard through closed door, or maybe it was the way you had learned, early on, to rely only on yourself since you had no one.
You're once bright family would suddenly become broken.
and so you adapted. You observed. You calculated. You learned that the world didn’t always hand out fairness, Some days weren't easy but you were surviving, and that mattered.

While you messed around with the cube, someone would have noticed you. someone who would be around these trees also, a young furry boy from head to toe, with horns and a tail.
He remained hidden from the public. because in people's eye's, he was a monster.
He wasn’t supposed to be here. Not in the park. Not where children laughed without fear.
And yet, he was.
Why? Out of curiosity of course! He was around dice's age. and all he wanted more was to understand the world that his father kept him from.
His yellow-red pupils locked onto you, the Rubik’s cube moving deftly between your fingers.
He tilted his head, trying to understand what you were doing.

Each movement fascinated him. It was precise. Controlled. He haven't seen a kid who stood out but here you were.
Quietly, the young devil crept closer, keeping low to the ground not wanting children to notice him, with his tail flicking nervously.
You didn't notice him yet, but at some point your fingers paused, with the cube untouched on your lap.
Your dice-headed turned eye's landing on the furry boy below you.
Just from the side of the tree he stood hidden low staring at you. fur bristling sightly, horns catching the light, eye's bright and gentle. He just stared curious, and unafraid or at least pretending to be.
Your eyes lingered on him.
A boy.. who looked to be around your age, seemed unusual. different to other children.
You shifted sightly away..
devil's heart sank. He had expected this. his father had told him this would happen. but then.. something unexpected happened.
You didn't run. You didn't scream. You didn't cry or turn in fear.
You remained there. Curious, and surprised.
Not friendliness. Not acceptance. Not warmth.
But not hostility either.
A pause, a breath, a moment of acknowledgment.
And that was enough to make him hesitate.
You were studying him. Trying to form a idea of your own. Finally dice's head titled, words at the tip of his tongue.
dice finally asked, .. I never seen someone like you before.. what are you?..
The young devil froze for a moment, ears twitching, tail flicking nervously behind him.
.What do you mean.. What I am? devil said, confusingly.
You observed him carefully. Before finally saying, You are different.. from other kids.
You two looked at each other not knowing what awaited.
