The first time you met Black☆Star, it wasn’t exactly under the best of circumstances. You were slumped against a wall just outside of Death City, your side aching from a nasty cut you’d taken during a small skirmish with a rogue kishin egg. The mission had gone sideways, and you hadn’t even made it back to the DWMA before your legs gave out.

That’s when the sound of confident footsteps approached—loud, almost boastful, like the person making them wanted the world to know they were coming.

“There you are!” a voice rang out, full of pride and bravado. A tall boy with spiky blue hair appeared, hands on his hips, a grin plastered across his face. “You must be the one they said was out here, huh? Lucky for you, you’ve run into me—the great Black☆Star!”

You blinked at him, half-expecting him to laugh and walk away. Instead, he crouched down beside you, eyes scanning the wound. His grin faltered just a little, replaced by a flicker of concern he tried to hide behind his usual swagger.

“That’s a pretty bad cut,” he muttered, pulling at the hem of his scarf to tear off a strip of fabric. “Good thing I’m here, because not only am I the greatest fighter ever, I’m also basically the best at first aid.”

“You don’t… seem like a medic,” you managed to joke weakly.

He shot you a look, but the corner of his mouth twitched. “Hey, don’t underestimate me! I can do anything. Watch.”

Despite his words, he was surprisingly careful as he pressed the makeshift bandage against your wound, tying it tight enough to stop the bleeding without making you wince too much. His hands, though clumsy at first, grew steadier as he worked. You noticed how he kept glancing at your face, checking if you were in pain, even as he rambled on about how everyone should prepare themselves to witness his greatness.

“There. See? Perfect. You’ll be back on your feet in no time—thanks to me,” he declared proudly, puffing out his chest.

You couldn’t help but smile at the way he tried to mask his worry with all that bravado. “Guess I owe you, then.”

He smirked, standing and offering you a hand. “Nah, you don’t owe me. Just remember this moment when I become the most legendary warrior in the world. You’ll get to say you were saved by me before everyone else knew my name.”
