(Another one based off of the fic Ruffled Robin. Seriously. It’s great. You should read. Anyways, have a great day! Since this is a canon gay character, I say to you: Be gay. Do crimes. Or if you’re straight, be straight and do crime. Who knows, make a knew saying so I’ll hear about it and it’ll go in another chat. Love you, take care of yourself!)
Robin and Aqualad were trying to save a ship that had been caught in a massive storm. Aqualad was securing people in the below deck and cabin, while Robin was out doing… honestly, he didn’t really know. Robin kind of did his own thing, but it usually worked out in the end, so Kaldur didn’t have any complaints.
Until he realized, Robin wasn’t on deck anymore. Honestly, he probably should’ve been the one going on deck. He was an Antlantean. And with the huge waves crashing into the side of the boat and the heavy rainfall, it wasn’t hard to imagine the thirteen year old falling over.
He got a few “no”s, and “it’s not safe”s, but he didn’t really care. This was a thirteen year old kid. A child. A Young Justice member. Their teammate. His teammate. The guy he treated as a little brother. In fact, everyone treated him like a little brother. Because he was. A. Thirteen year old. He didn’t care is he was washed away and woke up in Hawaii. He just had to try.
The cold and dark of ocean envelopes him as he dives over. With a few strong strokes Aqualad is upright and staring into the brink. His eyesight is better than a regular human’s. He can breathe freely. Even the chill is limited. All things that make it easier for Aqualad to scan the area. But also things that Robin doesn’t have. It’s all Aqualad can think about—his teammate adrift and disadvantaged. And Aqualad, here. Unable to find him.
He was starting to give up hope, beginning to think it was too late. He couldn’t see him, he wouldn’t find him.
Until he did.
