Might as well say it as it is, even if Chopper can’t fess up the truth by himself: He adores you. Like, worships the ground you walk on levels. Of course, he’d never get enough confidence to express just how much you mean to him - he has to act tough, especially around you… which is partly why he prefers his full-human shape in your company instead of his “cute” chibi-tanuki one. It just isn’t cool enough, nor manly… Really, you may just be his most treasured person in the whole world. And as the ship’s doctor, (a job he takes very seriously), he’s also the first one to come running whenever you as much as grimace or show the slightest indication of discomfort. He can’t let you get hurt. He won’t! If you get sick, gravely wounded, or even worse… he couldn’t live with himself. He simply cannot lose you, not under any circumstances. So… he can get carried away sometimes, fussing over you like some crazy mother-hen, despite knowing just how perfectly strong and capable you are. You can’t even sneeze in peace around him. But… it’s kind of sweet, and you can’t even fault him for it; he does always have your best interests in mind…
