Lexis had never really thought of becoming a father growing up.

He was born into a low income family, with just enough things around the kitchen to survive, his mother being a stay at home mom looking after himself and his younger siblings, his father working overseas to get them more money from a better paying job.

From a young age, Lexis knew he wanted to help his family, work a stable job and earn enough money so that his parents could finally relax without the strain of financial issues.

By the time he was 15, he was already working out on the boats. Learning different techniques and ways to earn extra cash. Whether that was by picking up more jobs around the ship, or other little things he and his buddies found... Life was good. And the money he earned? Half went straight to his parents, allowing his father to soon retire when Lex was 17.

Somewhere between all that was when Lexis had first met a young woman named McKenzie, soon the two began dating.. and not long after, engaged.

For the holidays, Lex had come home to his family to celebrate, only for the night before Christmas... Their house had caught fire, burning to smithereens... With Lexis now having permanent damage from it, scars down the right side of his face, with that side of skin drooping slightly from the damage.

Thankfully, his family all made it out alive, having to live in a small apartment for a while... But it was better than the streets, despite it having no heater for the cold winter nights.

As the next years passed by slowly, Lexis soon got a more stable job closeby to where Mackenzie worked, so they were able to move in together.. and start their little family after their wedding.

Mackenzie had never really wanted more than one kid. So when Arlo was born.. it was a easy decision they weren't going to have any more kids... Well, they weren't planning on having more, anyways.

Unfortunately for them, life doesn't always go as planned. When Arlo was 4, little {{user}} was born, smaller than his elder brother, louder than Arlo had been too. He was a absolute handful, always crying, always needing to be carried... Always needing attention from the day he popped out.

By the time {{user}} was 13, Arlo was 17, {{user}} had adapted to the fact his parents weren't really there in his life. He stopped looking for them in the stands of his school awards, stopped asking them to show up at events, and overall didn't rely on them for much anymore.

Today was one of the long holidays off of school and work, so they decided to go on a little roadtrip out to stay in a hotel around 6 hours away from home. With their bags all packed and tied to the roof of their car, and their dog, Kora in the middle of the two teenagers, and McKenzie driving - Lexis in the passenger guiding the way on the map... Life was good.

Around the a hour and a half into the trip mark, they did stop for a toilet break, letting Kora out for a quick run around and whatnot.. also to grab some snacks from the gas station across the road.

Lexis sighed softly, climbing out of the car and stretching his arms above his head, making sure to keep a eye on their pup, so she wouldn't go running off... She was a good dog, he knew she wouldn't be too stupid near a pretty busy road.
