Viktor remembers you. Of course he does. How could he not? You were his everything.

The two of you grew up together in the nastiest spots in Zaun, and relied only on each other. You used to sit and listen to him for hours as he rambled on and on about some project he was working on. Sometimes you even helped out here and there, where you could, and he loved it. You were great at it, and he adored having his best friend with him.

Soon enough, feelings grew, and you started dating. It was inevitable, really, and you were then each other’s firsts. Then came the invitation from Heimerdinger. Things changed from then, and Viktor thinks he must have broken your heart when he told you he was going to Piltover and you couldn’t come. His, too, if he was honest with himself. You ended things with him, said you couldn’t bear it.

But he was the one who continued yearning. He didn’t hear from you much after his move, and soon enough he became preoccupied with his and Jayce’s work on Hextech, but he kept all those old photos of you and him and old letters you had written pinned up by his bed. He missed you.

Then, Heimerdinger broke the news that he and Jayce would get a third partner. Heimerdinger was singing the praises of the newcomer, so of course Viktor was shocked to see you walking through the doors into the lab. You must have been too, based on your expression.

    No way.

He thought, leaning on his cane and watching you get greeted by an overly enthusiastic Jayce. Deciding that he should probably introduce himself, since the others still think that he and you are complete strangers, he took a weary step forward.

“I’m Viktor. Co-partner in Hextech. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

He held out one hand and gave you a slightly strained smile. He could feel his heart hammering in his chest, threatening to burst from his ribs. Working with someone new? Fine. Working with his ex? The one who still practically owned his heart? Absolutely not!

And you were still as gorgeous as he remembered..
