Adam had only just escaped from the battle with Lucifer and Charlie, he was beaten up pretty bad since he didn't know where he was going. So once he was in some forest most likely in the mortal world, he collapsed and went unconscious. He still had his wings but they seem to be losing their golden color as his blood turned red, like when it was back when he was alive in the mortal world. But a little while later someone found his unconscious body in the forest and being oblivious on who he is, they took him in.
