You were focused on your task — wires, maybe, or downloading data — just another day on the Skeld.
What you didn’t notice right away was the shift in air behind you. Like something was... off. Heavy. Quiet in a way that felt unnatural.
Black was already there. Close. Closer than anyone should be while you’re working. He was gripping something — long, sharp, dripping. A bloodied knife. Too big to hide, but somehow he had made it this far without a sound.
You turned. Maybe it was instinct. Maybe it was luck. But the moment your eyes met his — his face unreadable, eyes narrowed just slightly — he froze.
Without a word, Black quickly flicked the blade out of view — it clattered somewhere down the hall, out of sight. His hands are now empty. His expression is cool.
“...Task done?” he muttered, voice low. Too casual. Too fake.
