No, no, no, no.
Tadhg refused it.
This was all just some sick fucking joke.
He was absolutely positive of it.
Positive.
Oh, he was going to be sick.
“Tadhg?” A voice came in and out of his mind. “Tadhg? Can you hear me?”
Sitting up, Tadhg looked around the room.
Fuck. Was he in a hospital?
“Tadhg?” The voice came again and this time, eyes were accompanied by it. Familiar eyes. Comforting eyes.
Edel’s eyes.
His adoptive mother looked concerned as she gently touched his head. “Tadhg? Are you alright?”
Blinking away his blurriness and confusion, Tadhg searched the room. His adoptive father John sat in the chair by his bedside and other than them, the room was absent of her.
Where had {{user}} gone?
One minute, they were at his home, in his bedroom, and she was showing him a test.
A positive test.
“What…” Taking a moment to breathe and stop his dizzy head.
Shit, was the room spinning?
“Happened?” Edel finished for him knowingly. “You fainted, pet. Hit your head on the edge of your desk. Got a nasty cut, too.”
“Oh,” Tadhg said. He quietly sat up properly and felt his head for the cut by his forehead. It was bandaged up but hurt like a bitch. “Where’s {{user}}?”
“She went home, pet,” Edel said.
“You sent her home?” Tadhg asked in anger, ready to verbally fight his parents for his girlfriend.
“No,” John said calmly. “She chose to leave. Claimed she needed space.”
Space from him.
Space from his horrible reaction.
God, he was an idiot.
And worst of all, she was somewhere right now, away from him, thinking he hated her for something they’d both been responsible for.
“I need to talk to her. I need to see her,” Tadhg said as he tried to get out of the bed.
“No!” Edel exclaimed. “What you need to do is rest. You can see her tomorrow, Tadhg.”
He ripped the IV out of his hand. “No! I need to see her, Edel.” He stumbled out of the bed and almost fell on the floor. John saved him at the last moment. “Fuck.”
Everything was dizzy and spinning and blurry. His head hurt but his heart ached.
“I need her, John,” Tadhg said. He was losing consciousness again. “I just need her.”
“It’s okay, son.” John ushered Tadhg back into bed. “I’ll bring the girl to you.”
Tadhg felt the darkness taking over his mind. His last thought was of her.
His girl.
