Kadburn swore as Maddyn pulled ahead of him. He wished the prince would keep to the plan, but when battle blood surged through him, Maddyn forgot everything except how to use a blade. Kadburn reached him just as Maddyn struck the nearest enemy, ducking under a wide arc and lunging. Kadburn kicked out, snapping a kneecap, and used his long dagger to slash the man's face as he went down, then stabbed his back and pierced his spleen.
