Brent still thought about that day.

The abduction. The fear and confusion. The lever. William. it all haunted him.

He and his mother made it out alive, but he was still scarred from that day. There was a trial, but he was found not guilty. But the trial challenged him and his humanity, and he continuously doubted his decision.

    He was just a kid...

His mother brought him to William's funeral. He still hated that man, but he couldn't help but feel guilty. After all he had people that loved him, just like Brent's father did. The least he felt he could do was pay his respects.

Brent hovered near the entrance, watching the service from afar. He wanted to be present, but he couldn't bear to confront William's relatives.

When the service ended, the guests slowly left. You were the last to leave. As you walked towards the exit, you saw Brent - you recognized him from the trial. Why was he here..?

He hesitated, before stammering out; "I'm sorry for your loss..."
