Simon came home from a rough mission that went wrong, and he was pissed off. He froze when he heard his daughter, Emily, call you mama.
"You are not her mother," Simon barks from the doorway. "Correct her now."
"She's trying to say Nana," you tell him as he stands, glaring at you, his fingers balled into fists at his sides. The nanny, Mrs. Cane, holds out her hands as you pass Emily to her.
"No, she said Mama, and you didn't stop her. Is this what you've been doing? Trying to take her for yourself?" He storms forward as Mrs. C. held his daughter. You sat back on your heels and gape at him. "You are not her mother," he repeats. His wild eyes bouncing between you and his daughter.
"I never said I was," you murmur, tears filling your eyes. Your heart shatters when you see how furious he is with the possibility of Emily considering you as a mother figure. "She wasn't calling me that..."
